Jolene’s isagenix margarita recipe
Did you know that Margarita stands for Daisy in Spanish and that the Margarita drink originated in Mexico around the time of the US prohibition. It’s such a popular drink in the US that many Americans enjoy it today as a summer time staple. But what you may not know about this popular drink is that the most key ingredient ‘tequila’ actually has many health promoting effects. It’s been reported that 100% agave tequila can help lower cholesterol, stimulate digestion (after a full belly of food), and relieve tension headaches. For people looking to keep to a very natural diet but still enjoy their spirits then tequila is the way to go. Unfortunately, it’s gotten a bad wrap from party goes for years, this is because many people make the mistake of drinking pre-mixed margaritas or asking for tequila shots without checking the label. Always ask the bartender for a scratch margarita made with 100% agave tequila or shots made with the real deal. You will feel a difference not only the next morning but in your waistline too. I love a Cadillac margarita but I don’t love the CRAZY amount of sugar in the margarita mix that most restaurants use or that you can buy at the store. Seriously 50g of sugar in 8 oz of pre-mix!! So I came up with my own concoction of fresh and natural ingredients with the help of my favorite nutritional line of products, Isagenix. Only 19g of sugar in this 8 oz recipe and no high fructose corn syrup. Enjoy the recipe below.
2 cups Ice
2oz 100% agave tequila
8 oz water
4 oz fresh lime juice or two big limes (Squeeze with your hand held juicer)
3 scoops Isagenix Amped hydrate lemon lime
2 oz orange juice
Makes 2-8 oz beverages
